Mumbai is India's largest city and is considered the financial capital of the country as it generates 5% of the total GDP. It serves as an economic hub of India, contributing 10% of factory employment, 25% of industrial output, 33% of income tax collections, 60% of customs duty collections, 20% of central excise tax collections, 40% of India's foreign trade and Rs.40 billion (USD 850 million) in corporate taxes. Mumbai's GDP is Rs. 200,483/- Crores (USD 42.7 billion), and its per-capita income is Rs. 128,000/- (USD 2,730), which is almost three times the national average.

The real estate markets in Mumbai is witnessing economic growth due to a variety of factors and thus growing at an incredible speed. Value of rental prices and capital prices are unbelievably skyrocketing in the city. This in turn reflects in the revenue turnover of many commercial organizations. The real estate prices as well as the increase in rental values in Mumbai can be credited to the large scale investments in the commercial sector and the residential sector. Mumbai has always been the favorite spot for the corporate sector for developing their headquarters in the city. Besides that, increasing investments by MNCs in the IT, ITES and the BPO sector have led to a growing demand for office space; which as a result have created an imbalance in demand and supply for residential property. Due to the paucity of space and with affordability and availability being a major constraint, the areas surrounding Mumbai are also witnessing a lot of development.

Mumbai has now spilled over to its neighboring areas, giving rise to a handful of suburban domains. New Mumbai for example has come up as a very well developed suburb of Mumbai. Many Corporate Industries have shifted to this place for cost effective solutions. The commercial value of it is increasing by the day. The increase in price is due to the world-class infrastructure, yet to come ambitious projects, launch of international airport and some important tourist places and its proximity to the city of dreams – Mumbai.
